JOLIBE was created out of innate love of art, fashion and experimentation.
Joel Diaz and Christina LaPens joined forces in 2007 with their combined histories in fashion and marketing to begin to tell the JOLIBE story.

JOEL DIAZ was born in the Dominican Republic where at 12 he began learning dressmaking techniques from his mother. He studied fashion design at the Altos de Chavon School of Design and moved to New York City with a full scholarship to Parsons School of Design. Joel has a twenty year extensive background working for such regarded designers as Helmut Lang, where he led the atelier and experiemental side of the house. Additionally, he designed for Paco Rabanne and was the Design Director of Manolo ready couture. Joel is recognized as a premier tailor for may celebrities including Natalie Portman, Jennifer Connelly, Rachel Weisz, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Christina LaPens, a photographer and art director brings to JOLIBE a passion for textiles and print design. She utilizes her 15 years as a fashion editor and Creative Director for mass brands such as JCrew, Victoria’s Secret and Ann Taylor in the evolution of each collection, and the development of the JOLIBE image and brand.
JOLIBE is a women’s ready to wear brand focused on urban luxury with master tailoring, innovative fabric treatments, intelligent palettes and unique artistry. Consistent architectural lines paired with a combination of fine and durable fabrics and an ease in construction give the collections an approachability for women of all ages and body types and a day to evening versatility. The JOLIBE woman is ageless, sophisticated, confident, global and culturally savvy.
